Soft Bodies is a playful exploration in chimeric and fantastic insect anatomy based on the artist’s understanding of and previous engagements with the subject matter. The work is realized in both traditional materials such as graphite and watercolor as well as craft materials including faux furs and felts.
Esther M. Neisen was born in 1984. She received her BA from Buffalo State College. Neisen’s body of work was the focus of solo exhibitions at both the Carnegie Art Center and Buffalo Arts Studio. Her creative practice also involves installation and performance and has been on view at Studio Hart, Buffalo; Hallwalls; and the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
